Meet Our Poodle Puppy

It is with a very heavy heart that I am finally updating the website to say that we lost this wonderful Standard Poodle puppy to Parvo in January, 2007. He was only six months old and was the most perfect dog for us. Justin was a loving, intelligent and handsome boy. He was sent to us as an agility prospect but it soon became apparent that he was more than special and deserved a chance to prove himself in the conformation ring. Both we and his breeders in California were so excited about his future. Sadly...very sadly... we lost him in just 24 hours to Parvo. Yes, he was vaccinated but most likely, his mother's immunity cancelled out his first shot and he was unprotected. The Olunds, Justin's breeders, are every bit as devastated as we are. Justin's story has been shared on several breeders' lists and as a result, many of us are changing our vaccination protocol and adding more Parvo inoculations after 12 weeks of age. Another Cabernet Poodle will eventually come to us. I think we will need that to finally have closure on this loss. However, we will always love our first boy. He was my constant companion and will remain so in my thoughts and memory.
